Dear
Prospective UEZ Party:
I am writing to extend an invitation and welcome you to
Passaic City's Urban Enterprise Zone (UEZ) website, for
all prospective individuals and businesses. Passaic has
a long-standing history of businesses that are located in
the city, a large workforce, and a place where many different
goods and services are produced.
Our Urban Enterprise Zone was established in 1994 to help
jumpstart Passaic's economy and with our rich culture and
citizenry ready to work, we have become one of the most
desirable locations in North Jersey to establish a business.
I encourage you to check out this UEZ site, and find out
why it is great to do business here in Passaic. There are
many distinct advantages to being in a UEZ for many companies,
large and small. By working with our city, we can help businesses
stimulate the economy, put people to work, and allow individuals
to take advantage
of the 3.5% sales tax.
We are eager and willing to help individuals and organizations
make the most out of the UEZ and be part of Passaic's economic
future and hope you will contact us regarding some of the
things we have to offer. If you have any additional questions
about the website, please contact our Passaic Enterprise
Zone Development Corporation (PEZDC) at:
973-365-5520.
Thank you, and we look forward to having your business in
Passaic.
Sincerely,
Mayor Samuel Rivera |

Passaic–The
City that works for you.
Between 1980 and
the year 2000—just 20 years—Passaic‘s
population grew by 29.4 percent. And we continue to grow
today–since 2000 our population has grown to 68,682.
No other large city in the state enjoyed this rate of growth.
As most Northeast cities see their populations dwindle,
Passaic has experienced unprecedented growth. Our advantageous
location in the heart of the NY Metro Market, our multi-ethnic
diversity, our solid infrastructure and our strong manufacturing
labor force have all contributed to this success.
 |
With all that this great city has going for
it, what will interest you the most is our rapid economic
development—and growing opportunities for your business.
Passaic is known for its strong manufacturing heritage,
with a quarter of our 30,000-strong labor force working
in manufacturing industries. Productive and efficient, more
than half of Passaic’s population walks, carpools
or takes public transportation to work. This is a workforce
that will work for you.
Passaic Makes the big Screen, TWICE!

PEZDC HOLIDAY COMMERCIAL
With the use of local talent, local stores, and local scenery-Passaic UEZ was able to produce an effective holiday commercial that ran on CableVision during holiday shopping months. The spot invited customers to shop the stores of Passaic, especially during the holidays.

MAJOR MOTION PICTURE FILMED AND SET IN PASSAIC
Set in Passaic, New Jersey (and featuring many members of Passaic), Be Kind, Rewind is the story of Jerry (Jack Black) and Mike (Mos Def), friends of the weirdest order. Mike works at the decrepit local video store, and after a series of events far too kooky to relate here involving a grappling hook and a power plant, Jerry becomes magnetic, and manages to erase every tape in the joint. To save the store, the two guys team up with Alma, a neighboring dry cleaner (Diaz), and start reshooting the movies themselves, in a process they call ''Sweding.''
